Trying to manage your mental health on your own can leave you feeling frustrated and stuck. One of my skills as a psychologist is knowing how to best support you to grow a deeper understanding of yourself. Once you know what motivates your emotions and behaviours, you can develop a strategy to manage them.
Psychological Therapy Kogarah
Therapy - a step towards better mental health
You’re most likely here because something is happening in your life that’s got you feeling stuck and unable to move forward. Perhaps a GP or someone close to you has recommended that you seek help from a registered psychologist.
We understand that asking for help with your mental health can be a big step. We aim to make it as easy as possible for you, from the soothing environment at our clinic to the gentle pace of your therapy session. So while it may be a big step – it’s also a big step forward.

At Clinical Therapy, your wellbeing is at the centre of everything we do, from your first session to your last. We tailor evidence-based therapies to help you make sense of how you’re feeling so you can make progress towards a brighter future.
Whether you have a few therapy sessions or many, our goal is to put you at ease and listen without judgement. Your therapist will help you reflect on your current issues so you can develop a helpful approach to better cope with complex circumstances in your life.
A people-centred approach to therapy
Evidence-based therapy to help you get unstuck
Psychological Assessment
During your first session – your psychologist will focus on building an understanding of your situation.
They will gently explore what has brought you in to see them, your history and any past experiences with a mental health professional.
This approach helps both you and your therapist make sense of your current strengths and challenges.
Some assessments result in a diagnosis, which can provide you with a better understanding of yourself and help guide your therapy.
Psychological Therapy
At Clinical Therapy, your therapy sessions help you overcome difficulties by drawing on your existing strengths and building new skills.
Our approach to psychological therapy includes education and collaborative support.
Psycho-education helps you understand what might be happening, why you’re feeling the way you are and what can help.
Collaborative support means that your psychologist will encourage your input on all decisions related to your therapy. So your treatment plan is as individual as you.
Some of the evidence-based therapies our practitioners at Clinical Therapy utilise include:
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Schema Therapy
-
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
-
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
-
Motivational Interviewing
-
Family Therapy
-
Social-Emotional Skills teaching
Our psychologists share the same dedication to evidence-based therapy, but – like you – we are all individuals, so we all have a slightly different delivery style.
Your psychologist may use visual aids like sketches to broaden your understanding of your situation or effective treatment options and how they work.
You may be offered practical tools to assist your healing. Or the option of *no-pressure homework* from completing practical tasks to practising new skills in between sessions.
Your psychologist will discuss their approach to therapy with you in your first session, so you can ask questions and will know what to expect.
All treatment plans are personalised and collaborative – you will always be consulted about your therapy options to ensure you are comfortable with your treatment plan.
